Water levels fluctuated all week and were up and down throughout each day between 7in (compensation flow) and 2ft 4in. There were good runs of grilse, but they were running hard generally passing through the beat about 3½ hours after high tide. 6 grilse were caught and another 6 lost during the week with many more pulls. Douglas Prior caught 4 grilse to 5lbs, one on the 13th, 1 on the 16th and 2 on the 17th. Robert Whitrow had a small grilse on the 13th and Davy Brand another on the 14th.
